Patrick has over a decades experience in investment banking, working as a corporate finance advisor and principal investor across Australia and Asia.

Focusing on the technology, media and telecommunications sectors, Patrick has advised on transactions totaling over $10 billion in both the private and public space. He is an active private investor and sits on the boards of several unlisted Malaysian companies.

He is passionate about Malaysia, and has been involved with the AMBC for nearly a decade, commencing as Treasurer in 2012, President in 2013, and Chair since 2014.

Patrick is confident that if Australian businesses looked behind the sandiwara of Malaysian politics and its over-reported foibles, they would see an ideal launch pad to access a lucrative and growing domestic and regional market. Malaysia has an average age of 28, a GDP that has grown within a range of 5-8% p.a. over the last decade, and a population in excess of 30 million. Crucially, it is a market that values Australian brands and know-how, has an English speaking urban population, and a legal system based upon Common Law.

He urges Australian business to engage with the AMBC, MIDA, and Austrade to understand the magnitude of the accessible market and the plethora of Government, Industry and Investor support available for all businesses – from start-ups and exporters, to large SMEs and corporates.

Born in Ipoh and brought up in Penang, Patrick attended St Xavier’s Institution, often claimed (usually by Patrick) to be the finest secondary school in the country.

Patrick completed a Bachelor of Commerce and a Bachelor of Economics at the University of Queensland where he was awarded the faculty’s International Economics Scholarship.
